Minimum education

Completion of one of the four NVHT-recognised foundational hand therapy training programmes (basisopleidingen handtherapie).

Clinical hours / settings

At least three years of work experience with at least 1,800 hours of hand therapy treatment experience in the past three to five years (upper extremity conditions including hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, and related shoulder presentations as defined by NVHT).

Courses / mentorship

At least 120 continuing-education points in the past five years on follow-on training (vervolgscholing), per NVHT portfolio rules.

Case logs / portfolio

Portfolio requirements published by NVHT (inzage- en toelichtingsformulieren).

Memberships

Certification application fee is lower for NVHT members (€50) than for non-members (€150), per NVHT certification page.

Exam frequency / format

Applications may be submitted year-round; formal review rounds occur after 1 March and 1 October each year.

€50 per application for NVHT members; €150 for non-members (payment instructions published by NVHT).

Public registry search

NVHT states that therapists who hold CHT-NL are listed on the NVHT website (no separate registry URL captured in seed).

Limitations

NVHT states CHT-NL is not a government- or insurer-recognised certificate and does not create reimbursement entitlements.
